We believe in God as creator of the world.
We believe in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus Christ – God’s only Son – is Saviour and Lord. We believe that, through the gift of Jesus Christ, God offers every person a unique relationship. Our response to this gift involves both faith and action.
We acknowledge the Bible as God’s revelation of himself and his offer of salvation. The Bible is a source of nourishment to Christians, and an authority and guidance for life.
The sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion express the good news of Jesus Christ. The church baptises those who confess the Christian faith, and those for whom the church takes responsibility in care and instruction. Baptism is an effective sign of a relationship with Jesus and with the Church. In the sacrament of Holy Communion we commune with Jesus Christ, commemorate his death and resurrection, and receive strength to participate in Christ’s mission.
In the interpretation of Scripture, we accept the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. Our church stands firmly with the Church throughout the ages, and with the churches of the Reformation in essential belief and teachings. We are a part of the Uniting Church in Australia. Our Basis of Union provides a statement of the Uniting Church’s purpose, faith and order.
